  well, as the memorial approaches again, the pressure directed at me from the remaining jw's in my family to attend is getting to be too much.

  i'm at the point where i just want to yell out "leave me the f@$k alone!

  "......but i know i cant say that, so i'll just make up some excuse like i did last year and just not go.

  anyone on the forum ever met brothers: arnold arrogant, jerry jealous, david deceitful, harry hateful, carl cocky, matt materialistic....... how about sisters: kathy conceited, pam proud, debbie dishonest, connie condescending.....

  if i missed anybody post their names im sure ive met them before.

  I did not go!

  recently i posted a subject about being pressured by family into going to the memorial, well, i stood my ground and for the first time in my life that i can remember i did not go!

  today i feel like a new man, i feel liberated!....if now i could get them off my back for all the other jw events, just got a call from my sister asking me, "since you didnt go to the memorial, are you going to the "special" assembly?

  " i felt like telling her flat out "no!

  Have you ever witnessed a Witness

  myself being a very observant person have on many occasions witnessed witnesses behaving badly in public places.

  for instance, i was in an auto parts store recently, unbeknownst to a jw(elder) who happened to walk in, lines were long and this @#@hole demanded to be served immediately, yelling, cutting in front of everyone else, belittling the clerks like they were nobody (typical jw).

  i felt like telling him to calm down and show some "fruitages of the spirit", but i just watched his rant and thought to myself how bad these jerks act when they think no one is around.

  Pressured

  jw memorial is coming up, i told myself i'm not going this year, having a mother a couple brothers and two sisters still "in" all pressuring me to attend, saying things like "this may be the last memorial b4 the end", you've heard the spiel before.....crap like that is putting a lot a pressure on me this year, wish they would just stop it and worry about their own crappy lives!

  JW owned businesses

  have you ever noticed how some jw's who own businesses name their companies with titles associated with their belief?

  there's a few in my city with company names like:

  kingdom janitorial service(the logo on his van actually has the watchtower on it)

  last days?

  recently overheard some jw relatives talking, the term we're in the "last days of the last days" was being used frequently, i didn't want to ask them, it would of turned into an argument.

  wtf does this imply?

  is anyone else hearing this?

  identifying a witness

  post ways you can tell a jw from a regular person on the street..................one way that i can usually tell is the mis-matched suits the men wear.... just the other day we were waiting in a dentists office in another city and in walks two guys, one had on a green/grey checkered blazer and purple slacks,yes purple!

  i whispered to my wife and said i bet you a dollar they are jw's... sure enough the purple witness asked the receptionist if he could leave reading material, which she denied,(made my day!

  ) anyway i won a dollar!

  how long did it take?

  newbie here, a lil about me......grew up around the jw religion, never was baptized but i did get to the level of "unbaptized publisher" once, as of now i dont attend any "meetings", but still get the watchtowers and awakes pushed to me by family members.

  it's actually been 3 years since i realized that it wasnt the "truth", even though i've probably have known it all along.

  my question to the groups is, how long did it take you to stop calling it "the truth"?
